NLV Library to host bilingual storytime
The North Las Vegas Library District, in addition to its regular Family Storytime, special bilingual storytime will be offered in English and Spanish.
The programs include stories, crafts, and other activities for the entire family to enjoy. All of the storytimes are free, and no registration is required.
The next program will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the library, 2300 Civic Center Drive, North Las Vegas. Call 633-1070.
Candlelighters will stage annual walkathon
The 15th annual Candlelighters 5k Walkathon in memory of Jared Barney and Jason York will begin 8 a.m. Saturday, starting and finishing at Paseo Verde Park in Henderson.
The event will feature race T-shirts, raffle prizes/drawings, an awards ceremony and post race refreshments.
Admission is $20; $15 for kids 12 and younger; $30 day of race.

Kids invited on trip to San Diego Zoo
Henderson Recreation Department has scheduled an excursion to the San Diego Zoo on June 4.
Registration is $95 and includes admission, 35-minute guided bus tour, safari aerial tram ride and round-trip transportation. Registration must be received by May 27. Register online at www.cityofhenderson.com/parks. The online activity number is 8115061.
An adult must accompany children ages 3-12. Teens 13-17 may travel un-escorted if enrolled by a parent or guardian. Buses depart at 1:30 a.m. from Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., and at 2 p.m. from Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. Buses return to Henderson at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, June 5. Call 267-4060.
