Lon Thomas Allen Jr.

Lon Thomas Allen Jr., 35, of Henderson died Thursday. He was born Nov. 23, 1969, in Aurora, Colo. A resident for four years, he was a self-employed water treatment technician.

He is survived by his wife, Mayumi; one daughter, Erika Yusa Allen of Henderson; and his parents, JoAnn and Lon Thomas Allen Sr. of Garden Valley, Idaho.

Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. until a 4 p.m. service Tuesday in the LDS Ocean Street Relief Society Room. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Richard Barcus

Richard Barcus, 70, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Dover, Ohio. A resident for 12 years, he was a math teacher and coach at Chula Vista High School and a pitcher for a St. Louis Cardinals farm team.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sylvia; his mother, Margaret Watkins; and one sister, Janice Smith.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is assisting Glen Abbey Mortuary, Bonita, Calif., with arrangements.

Frances J. Bartlett

Frances J. Bartlett, 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A hotel housekeeper, she was born Dec. 8, 1931, in New Mexico.

She is survived by three sons, Gary Bartlett and Patrick Bartlett, both of Las Vegas, and Virgil Bartlett of California; two daughters, Sandra Bartlett and Emma Barkum, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Ima Jean Abeyta of New Mexico; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until a noon service Wednesday in Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Gilbert Ned Belaire

Gilbert Ned Belaire, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 8, 1928, in Chicago. A resident for 15 years, he was a taxicab driver and dispatcher and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one sister, Evelyn Smith.

Marsha Wells Burgess

Marsha Wells Burgess, 54, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 12, 1950, in Vandalia, Ill. A resident for 28 years, she was a teacher.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen Burgess of Las Vegas and Scott Burgess of Henderson; her parents, Bill and Dorothy Wells, and one brother, Bill Wells Jr., all of Las Vegas.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Keith Covert

Keith Covert, 63, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 24, 1941, in Adams County, Ohio. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired material handler for an ice cream company.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; two sons, Samuel Covert of Virginia Beach, Va., and Karl Covert of Largo, Fla.; two daughters, Cari Covert and Sara Covert, both of Las Vegas; four sisters, Dorothy Dryden of Portsmouth, Ohio, Rosemary LaCoss of South Haven, Mich., and Jean Kleen and Phyllis Frias, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, William Covert of Jacksonville, Fla., Rodney Covert of Seaman, Ohio, and Barry Covert of Blanchester, Ohio; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Memorial Park.

Jo Elliott

Jo Elliott, 78, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Glenwood, Iowa. A resident for 35 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Grady S.; two sons, T.J. Ledford of Leesburg, Ga., and Ken Ledford of Riverside, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 1-4 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Searchlight Cemetery.

Marion Leigh Goodrich

Marion Leigh Goodrich, 43, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 6, 1961, in Miami. A resident for 13 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry D.; four sons, Kenny Williams, Jordon Goodrich, Jason Goodrich and Joshua Goodrich, two stepdaughters, Sarah Goodrich and Michelle Goodrich, and her mother, Ann Tracy Newland, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Daniel Scott Anderson of Eastman, Ga., and James Kelly Newland of Tujunga, Calif.; one sister, Joan Ross of Hollywood, Fla.; and her grandmother, Nina Tracy of Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Junelle S. 'Judy' Hampton

Junelle S. "Judy" Hampton, 78, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born March 3, 1927, in Milford, Utah. A resident for 55 years, she was a retired executive secretary for an airline, a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Henderson Museum Guild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, former Henderson Mayor William Robert Hampton, in December 1994.

She is survived by one sister, Elizabeth Lehr of Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Betty J. Johnson

Betty J. Johnson, 70, of Boulder City died Friday in a local hospital. She was born July 9, 1934, in Rockford, Ill. A resident for 14 years, she was a retired inspector for a lock manufacturer.

She is survived by one aunt, Vera Rewerts of Henderson; and two uncles, James Thatcher of Paso Robles, Calif., and Robert Rewerts of Henderson.

Alfreda Virginia Jones

Alfreda Virginia Jones, 72, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in North Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 23, 1933, in Utica, Miss. A resident for 50 years, she was a hotel hostess.

She is survived by three daughters, Denise Brown, Linda Witt, Elaine Jones, Paula Jones and Traci Johnson, and three sons, Willie Dixon, Melvin Jones Jr. and Kim Jones, all of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1:30-7 p.m. today in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be noon Tuesday in Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Shirley J. Kamppi

Shirley J. Kamppi, 62, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 10, 1942, in Arkansas. A resident for 30 years, she was a change person at a local casino.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Sr.; one son, Raymond II; one daughter, Kathy; two sisters, Clara and Inez; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

David R. Quinn

David R. Quinn, 73, of Las Vegas and Seeley Lake, Mont., died Friday in a local hospital. He was born May 22, 1931, in Toledo, Ore. A resident of Las Vegas for one month, he was a retired plywood company supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Aili; two daughters, Penny Simmons of Emporia, Va., and Della Quinn of Missoula, Mont.; two sons, Mark Quinn and Kelly Quinn, both of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service in Beatty is pending. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

John James Skandros

John James Skandros, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born July 27, 1922, in Pocatello, Idaho. A resident for 43 years, he was a retired casino cashier, a retired Army first sergeant, a World War II veteran who served under Gen. Patton in Germany from 1942 to 1946, a recipient of the Victory Medal, EAME Theatre Ribbon with Bronze Service Star and the Good Conduct Medal, a volunteer for the Vista program, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Greek Orthodox Order of Ahepa.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia; two daughters, Alexia Conger and Stephanie Skandros, both of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 6 p.m. trisagion at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Milton E. Thomas

Milton E. Thomas, 67, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 9, 1937, in California. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired Korean War and Vietnam War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Fedela; and one son, Chad Thomas of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Thomas Tillery

Thomas Tillery, 40, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1964, in Marysville, Calif. A resident for three years, he was a dispatcher for a construction company and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy; two sons, Michael Tillery of Las Vegas and Cody Tillery of Missouri; one daughter, Samantha Tillery of Missouri; his mother, Nancy Brackett of Stockton, Mo.; his father, Jerry Tillery of California; one brother, Tim Tillery of Rockford, Ill.; and his mother-in-law, Imogene Noring of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 5 p.m. until a 7 p.m. service Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Ivory Renee Watley

Ivory Renee Watley died Thursday, her date of birth, in a local hospital.

She is survived by her mother, Nina Bieker, her father, Steve Watley, and her grandparents, Lance and Lynn Bieker, Karen Maske and Steve and Lena Watley, all of Las Vegas.
