SUN STAFF REPORTS
The Community College of Southern Nevada will play host to Dixie State on Thursday in the best-of-three Region 18 baseball championship at Morse Stadium.
The Coyotes (46-12) pounded out 31 hits at home Thursday and Friday in defeating Eastern Utah (19-7) and Southern Idaho (12-5) to advance to the Region 18 tournament.
CCSN won five of its eight games against Dixie (39-14), the defending NJCAA World Series champion, during the Scenic West Athletic Conference season. The Coyotes won the junior college title in 2003.
Thursday and Friday's games start at 6 p.m. If needed, Saturday's game will also begin at 6. The winner advances to the Western District championship in Arizona to play for a spot in the World Series, in Grand Junction, Colo., in three weeks.
