Weingarten Realty Investors purchased the 437,000-square-foot Best in the West shopping center for about $78 million from Arizona-based DTR 6 LLC (Desert-Troon Cos.). Desert-Troon purchased the property in 2003 for $65 million from the Molasky Group of Cos.
The shopping center is at U.S. 95 and Lake Mead Boulevard and is anchored by stores such as Babies "R" Us, Petsmart, DSW, Bed Bath & Beyond and Best Buy.
Deron Conway, senior leasing executive with Weingarten in Las Vegas, said the purchase fits well into the company's portfolio and that the property has been very successful in the past. Weingarten now has 11 retail properties in Las Vegas totaling about 3.1 million square feet.
