As we remember the end of the Vietnam War 30 years ago, it's curious how we treat communist nations.
Tragically, we lost 58,000 of our troops in Vietnam. Many more were wounded, and some, such as Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., were held in captivity for many years. Yet today we are on good terms with Vietnam. We are their biggest trading partner and many Americans visit Vietnam as tourists. We are also on good terms with China, which aided Vietnam during the war.
Yet Cuba, a communist nation we did not have a shooting war with, is a total pariah. I don't get it.
