'Tastes & Tunes'

North Las Vegas presents the third annual "Tastes & Tunes" festival from today to Saturday along Civic Center Drive in front of North Las Vegas City Hall, 2200 Civic Center Drive. Admission is free, and activities include a carnival, boxing, musical groups and a variety of food booths. 633-2418.

Friedman lecture

Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman will present "The World is Flat" at 7 p.m. Thursday at UNLV's Artemus Ham Hall as part of the Barbara Greenspun Lecture Series. Admission is free, but tickets are required. 895-2787.

Celebration

Las Vegas presents a community celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Sunrise Center and Park, 2240 Linn Lane. Admission is free, and activities include a children's craft fair, live entertainment and pony rides. 455-7600.
