Fundraiser planned for kidney patient
Nevada State College nursing students will hold a charitable raffle and fundraiser 6 p.m. Thursday at the school's Great Hall for Ibriana Alvies, a 14-year old Las Vegas native who just underwent her second kidney transplant at the Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University.
Ibriana is diagnosed with end stage renal disease. The purpose of the fundraiser is to defray some of the expenses Ibriana and her grandmother are facing.

ADHD group schedules meeting
Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder will hold a free educational meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the large conference room at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.
The topic will be "Special Education Programs Available in the Clark County School District." Guest speaker will be Kathy Scott, Ph.D -- Regional Director for Special Education. Call 580-1955.
Open spaces are subject of session
Henderson will hold an open space plan meeting from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway.
The meeting will analyze the city's trails and natural areas, protection strategies, community partnerships, and methods of connecting Henderson residents to open space.
Participants can provide input on open space conservation opportunities, trail locations, and implementation issues. Call 267-1505 or visit the project Website at www.cityofhenderson.com.
