With Las Vegas Philharmonic performances, centennial events and First Friday this weekend, there is no shortage of cultural events to attend in the Las Vegas Valley.
To help plan your weekend, the ArtFest of Henderson, an annual Mother's Day event, offers two days of arts, crafts, food and entertainment in downtown Henderson.
In its eighth year, more than 50,000 visitors are expected to stroll Water Street between Basic and Atlantic roads Saturday and Sunday. More than 200 local and national artists will display and sell paintings, sculptures, ceramics, fibers, jewelry, woodcuts and mixed-media works.
Carl Grove Combo, Killians Angels and Jennifer Spector are among the jazz, folk, country rock and reggae performers playing the Convention Center Stage and City Hall Stage. Egyptian Belly Dancers, Showbiz Kids and Desert Stars will performon the Kids Stage.
The event is free. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (888)278-3378 or visit the Web site, www.888artfest.com.
ArtFest of Henderson is produced by The Events Group Inc., which produces eight annual festivals in the southwest, including an annual festival in La Jolla, Calif., and Scottsdale, Ariz.
