UNLV's summer catalog available

UNLV's summer catalog of community interest courses was mailed to former students. The catalog is also available at Las Vegas Clark County libraries, as well as at the Educational Outreach Office at the Paradise Campus, 851 E. Tropicana Ave., across from the Thomas & Mack Center.

Registration is now open for courses in a variety of areas including personal finance, business, computers, arts, crafts, sports and fitness.

Youth programs listed include UNLV's "Get Ready" course for high school students preparing for freshman year at UNLV; summer reading programs for K though high school students and a Junior Lawyer Camp sponsored by the William S. Boyd School of Law.

Nevada residency workshops set

UNLV's Student Enrollment Services will offer a pair of free Nevada residency workshops from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and June 9 in the Classroom Building Complex, Room C-116.

The workshops are designed to aid applicants through the Nevada residency application process for new residents and those wishing to be re-classified as Nevada residents for instate tuition.

Three honored by CCSN president

Three Community College of Southern Nevada employees received awards of excellence at the fifth annual Nevada Community Colleges Conference in Carson City.

CCSN President Richard Carpenter singled out author and English professor H. Lee Barnes, international students director Anneli Adams and music program assistant Earl Somerville for presidential excellence awards.

Barnes received the honor for teaching excellence and Adams for administrative excellence; Somerville was cited for his work performance as a classified staff member.

This year's event was hosted at Western Nevada Community College.
