Reid to receive PTA award

Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., will be honored with the National PTA Lifetime Achievement Award this afternoon at Doris Hancock Elementary School in Las Vegas.

Reid, who will be visiting the campus as part of his "Capitol to the Classroom" program, will meet with students, teachers, administrators and parents to answer questions and discuss ongoing educational initiatives.

Since launching "Capitol to the Classroom" more than two years ago, Reid has visited dozens of schools statewide.

The achievement award will be presented to Reid by Nevada PTA President D.J. Stutz.
