Temple honors Rabbi Goodman
Monday, May 2, 2005 | 8:51 a.m.
Temple Beth Sholom will celebrate Rabbi Felipe Goodman's seventh anniversary on May 15.
The celebration will also note that Goodman and the temple have agreed to another seven-year term.
In his time in Las Vegas, Goodman has guided the temple through its move from temporary facilities at the Hebrew Academy to its home in Summerlin.
Goodman served as president of the Southern Nevada Board of Rabbis from 2001 to 2003. He also serves on the Chancellor's Rabbinic Cabinet at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, the Rabbinic Cabinet of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at the University of Judaism and has membership in the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Assembly (International Association of Conservative Rabbis).
Temple Beth Sholom is recognizing Goodman with a "Quince de Mayo" celebration, a nod to his Mexican heritage.
A reception at the temple, 107000 Havenwood Lane, begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $200 per person and can be reserved by contacting the temple office at 804-1333.
