Fugitive from Scotland arrested

Thursday, March 31, 2005 | 9:42 a.m.

A local man wanted in connection with a fatal 1998 hit-and-run accident in Scotland was arrested in Las Vegas Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Scot Douglas MacLennan, 24, who has been living in Las Vegas for about five years, was wanted by Interpol, an international criminal investigation organization headquartered in London.

MacLennan is charged with driving erratically, colliding with another car and causing the second vehicle to crash into a tree killing a woman, officials with the Marshals Service said.

MacLennan, who was scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court today, faces extradition to Europe and up to 14 years in prison on a charge of vehicular homicide.

MacLennan, whose father lives in Scotland, was born in California and had been working at a Henderson restaurant. He was arrested in Henderson by marshals and Metro Police.
