Letter: Republicans are the ones hurting state of marriage
Tuesday, March 29, 2005 | 9:01 a.m.
It seems Republicans are against everything, except taking care of the rich and the corporate plutocrats. They tell us they are for states' rights, then shove Yucca Mountain down our throats. They tell us they are for balanced budgets, then create the biggest debt this country or the world has ever seen. They are against nation-building, yet, hello Middle East.
They tell us they are for family values, and then spend an entire night passing a special law for Terri Schiavo. Please remember that Jesus said, "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, Reps. Jon Porter and Jim Gibbons, both R-Nev., and Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., have by their actions and words, separated and attacked the state of marriage under God's law.
Where have DeLay and his gang been for the past 15 years? It is bad enough that we, the people, let them turn the country upside-down. But enough is enough when they start doing it to my Bible.
