Letter: Our laws hardly came from God
Tuesday, March 29, 2005 | 9:02 a.m.
In Timothy Carroll's March 22 letter, he states that the laws against murder, stealing and bearing false witness are not from man, but from commands given by the Judeo-Christian God.
I find it rather hard to believe that when Moses read these particular commandments that the listeners suddenly said: "Not kill or steal? What a great idea! Why didn't somebody think of that before?"
The laws against murder, theft and various other civil rules were man-made civil tenets long before Christianity. These "founding principles" are, and continue to be, man-made.
