Vera L. Carson

Vera L. Carson, 76, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 26, 1929, in Indiana. A resident for 34 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by five sons, Albert Mitchell, Jerry Walker, Richard Walker and Alvern Walker, all of Las Vegas, and Leon Walker of West Virginia; three daughters, Etta Mitchell of Michigan and Galyn Walker and Kristine Finks, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, James Steward, Robert Steward and Lawrence Steward, all of Indiana; three sisters, Mary Pruitt and Faye Thomas, both of Michigan, and Betty Davis of Indiana; 33 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Tuesday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Alpha and Omega Apostolic Church, 2610 Martin Luther King Blvd. Burial will be in Indiana.

Edwin H. Fortier

Edwin H. Fortier, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Inglewood, Calif. A resident for 48 years, he was a retired construction superintendent, a World War II Marine Corps veteran of the 1st Division, a member of the Elks, Carpenters Local 1780 and was on the board of the Marine association.

He is survived by his wife, Dorris; one son, Edwin Fortier of California; five daughters, Marsha Fortier and Adelia Fortier, both of California, Jeanne Bayless of Mount Charleston, Shari Kent of Monterey, Calif., and Susan Chaphe of Arlington, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Richard Henderson

Richard Henderson, 78, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Gary, Ind. A resident for six years, he owned a news agency and was a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Evans Henderson; two daughters, Kathleen Kleovoulou and Laurie Jackson; three sons, Daniel Henderson, Matthew Henderson and John Henderson; and two grandchildren.

Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling private arrangements.

Loretto Mae Hubbard

Loretto Mae Hubbard, 77, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Fremont, Mich. A resident for one year, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford Sr.; four sons, Robert Hubbard of Grand Junction, Colo., Michael Hubbard of Schaumburg, Ill., Clifford Hubbard Jr. of Fort Smith, Ark., and Mark Hubbard of Elgin, Ill.; four daughters, Geraldine Hubbard of Dundin, Fla., Cynthia Kennedy of Chandler, Ariz., Catherine Schuster of Enterprise, Kan., and Elizabeth Gutierrez of Las Vegas; 34 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is arranging a private memorial service.

Ruth A. Pekar

Ruth A. Pekar, 80, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 7, 1924, in Gaston, Ind. A resident for eight years, she retired as a secretary from Hughes Aircraft.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Stanley E.; one daughter, Linda Hitt, and one son, Roger Koch, both of Portland, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.

Gayla R. Richardson

Gayla R. Richardson, 69, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born March 10, 1936, in Vernal, Utah. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired pharmacy technician.

She is survived by her husband, Duane; one son, Shane Richardson of Las Vegas; two sisters, Linda Hultz of Mesa, Ariz., and Tora Dunn of Hot Springs, S.D.; and two brothers, Lowell Allred of Liberty, Miss., and Dee Allred of Craig, Colo.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services and burial will be in Colorado.

Ann Vissers

Ann Vissers, 89, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. She was born Oct. 27, 1915, in the Netherlands. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Flossie Weber, and one son, Anthony Vissers, of Henderson; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 1 p.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will be in California.
