Investigators probe blaze at vacant houses downtown

Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a blaze that destroyed one vacant house and significantly damaged the neighboring vacant house Wednesday night.

The small, one-story homes located at Las Vegas Boulevard North and Stewart Avenue near Las Vegas City Hall were discovered burning about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to a fire department statement.

The fire was under control within 15 minutes, firefighters said. The dollar value of the damage had not been determined as of this morning. No injuries were reported.
