Rebels add Hawaii to 2006, 2007 schedules

UNLV and Hawaii have agreed to renew their football rivalry with a home-and-home series that begins in 2006.

The Rebels will face the Warriors in Honolulu on Sept. 16, 2006 while Hawaii will visit Sam Boyd Stadium on Sept. 15, 2007.

"Everyone wins when we play a home-and-home series with the University of Hawaii," UNLV athletic director Mike Hamrick said. "It is an exciting trip for our fans and players to make while also producing big crowds here at Sam Boyd Stadium."

The two teams last played in Las Vegas in 2003. UNLV won, 33-22, before the third largest home crowd in school history (34,287) as well as a national cable audience on ESPN2.

Hawaii leads the all-time series that began in 1969, 10-6, but UNLV has won the past three games including a 34-32 victory in Honolulu in 2000 that earned the team a Las Vegas Bowl bid.
