New Web site offers listings of commercial properties for free

Tuesday, March 22, 2005 | 11:06 a.m.

The city of Las Vegas on Monday unveiled its Las Vegas Prospector Web site, which allows real estate agents to list commercial properties within city limits free of charge and also provides maps and demographic information.

The site is a joint effort between the city's Department of Planning and Development and the Office of Business Development and will shorten wait times for requested information and will help link up buyers and sellers, and landlords and tenants, city officials said.

"It's a one-stop shop for business seeking information about available commercial property," Bill Arent, redevelopment officer, said.

The site is available free of charge to the general public, and can provide customized demographic searches and maps, business reports and business licenses.

The customized reports and maps, now available through the Web site, used to be compiled by city workers and could sometimes take weeks to complete, said Andrew Powell, statistical analyst for the Department of Planning and Development.

"Now it's done in 30 seconds," he said.

Also on the site are commercial listings, including vacant land, that are available within city limits. It is free for real estate agents to use the site.

"This is a free service that really isn't out there," Powell said.

Already CB Richard Ellis, NAI Horizon and Grubb and Ellis have added their own commercial listings to the city's Web site, he said.

If someone sees a property they are interested in, they contact the broker directly.
