Kids needed for UNLV research
The UNLV Psychology Department is looking for Hispanic and white children to participate in a study on the factors associated with separation anxiety.
To be eligible, children must be between the ages of 3 and 6 and experience any of the following difficulties:
Becoming upset when away from home or parents; Not wanting to be left with a babysitter; Having nightmares about self or parents; Fear of sleeping away from home; Physical complaints, such as stomachache, headache, or nausea.
Participants will receive a free assessment of their children's difficulty, a summary of results, and referrals for treatment if applicable. Assessments generally last 60 minutes and may be conducted at UNLV or at the participant's home. The study will be conducted by clinical psychology graduate student Krisann Alvarez, under the guidance of UNLV professor Christopher Kearney.

Henderson plans Disneyland trip
Henderson is hosting an excursion to Disneyland April 2, with the bus leaving at 2:30 a.m. from Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. The bus will return to Henderson approximately 1 a.m. Sunday.
A parent or guardian must accompany children 3-12 years of age. Teens 13 and up may travel un-escorted if registered personally by a parent or guardian. Registration must be received by Friday.
Participation costs $95 and includes round-trip transportation and unlimited use of all park attractions. Call 267-4053.
Spring Festival set at Henderson park
Henderson Parks and Recreation is hosting its annual Spring Festival from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Stephanie Lynn Craig Park, 1725 Galleria Drive, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 26 at Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St. Participation is free.
The event features age appropriate carnival games, prizes, candy and more. For more information, call 267-5850 or 267-4060.
Kids invited to Easter Festival
Children can enjoy the Easter Bunny from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday during the Easter Festival the MonteLago Village and a petting zoo and pony rides from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lake Las Vegas.
The Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is bringing dogs of all sizes and ages to participate in pet adoptions and a doggie fashion show 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
Sunday, children ages 12 and under are invited to participate in a traditional Easter egg hunt within MonteLago Village at 1 p.m. Call 737-3100.
The Performing Arts Society's
Brown Bag Concert will present a concert 2 p.m. Saturday at the Winchester Cultural Center Theater, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Admission if $10. Call 658-6741 for reservations.
The North Las Vegas Library District
is holding the groundbreaking for its new branch today at 4:30 in the Aliante master planned community. The ceremony is open to the public at Deer Spring s Road, east of Aliante Parkway.

NLV names boss of human resources
North Las Vegas City Manager Greg Rose named Ali R. Freeman as director of human resources following a national search. He has worked for Detroit since 2002, including holding the positions of deputy director of human resources and director of human resources for the Detroit Housing Commission.
