Thieves talking their way into homes

Metro Police are warning the public that they have been fielding reports about con men talking their way into the homes of senior citizens, distracting them and then stealing jewelry, cash, and other items.

At least three times the past two months the people have used various cons to get residents to allow them into their homes and then steal from them, police said. They generally work in small groups of men and women that may include children.

Police said the groups have entered homes by approaching residents as prospective buyers of used automobiles, car detailers, and home improvement crews.
