Prague Symphony to perform at Ham Hall

Ah, the countryside. The green grassy hills, the babbling brook, the merry gathering of country folk.

Nothing compares to a day in the country so much as Beethoven's "Sixth Symphony," also known as "Pastorale."

On Saturday the Prague Symphony Orchestra will attempt to capture that spirit with its performance of "Pastorale" at UNLV's Artemus Ham Hall.

While there, take a deep breath and feel the breeze."Pastorale" was inspired by the beauty of nature and the composers long walks through the country.

Founded in 1934 by Rudolf Petarek to provide music for Czech films, the Prague Symphony Orchestra has grown into an established orchestra and a main component of Czech music and culture. It tours worldwide.

The 8 p.m. concert is part of the Charles Vanda Master Series. Tickets are $45, $60 and $90. For more information, call 895-2787.
