Drainage project will restrict traffic
A storm drainage improvement project on sections of Charleston Boulevard and Rancho Lane is scheduled to start Sunday. Construction activity will take place on Charleston between Rancho Drive and Shadow Lane, and on Rancho Lane between Tonopah Drive and Charleston Blvd.
Traffic lane restrictions will be in effect within work zones and some temporary road closures can also be expected. The improvement project will take approximately five months to complete. Funding for the $4.1 million improvement project is provided by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District.
Artists sought for mural project
Clark County Parks and Community Services has issued a call for artists to apply to participate in the Zap! project in the Winchester Cultural Center neighborhood.
Ten sites have been selected along parts of East Desert Inn Road and McLeod Drive as part of the project. Ten artists will be chosen, and each will be paid $2,000 to paint one of the sites.
The project is part of the Centennial Committee's City of 100 Murals program, which is now expected to produce more than 150 murals around the valley in honor of the 100th anniversary of the land sale which established the community of Las Vegas.
For more information or to have an application mailed to an artist, call 455-8239.
