Josefa Arana

Josefa Arana, 83, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. She was born June 10, 1921, in Durango, Mexico. A resident for 25 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by six sons, Eloy Arana of Chicago, Ezperanza Arana, Joaquin Arana, David Arana and Gasper Arana, all of Las Vegas, and Santos Gomez of Michigan; three daughters, Consuelo Arana Osf, Angelita Herrera and Silvia Arana, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Maria Martinez; two brothers, Jesus Martinez and Cruz Martinez; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 9 a.m. Friday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Willie Mae Edwards-Ross

Willie Mae Edwards-Ross, 62, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born May 1, 1942, in Arkansas. A resident for 52 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Willie C.; one son, Robert Lee Edwards, and one daughter, Sonya Denise Edwards, both of Las Vegas; five brothers, Gene Edwards of Los Angeles and Roy Edwards, Willie James Edwards, David Edwards and Willie Edwards Jr., all of Las Vegas; five sisters, Jessie Edwards, Linda Smith, Martha Turner and Bessie Edwards, all of Las Vegas, and Early Davis of San Bernardino, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Friday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1240 W. Adams Ave. Burial will follow in Davis' Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Treva B. Froyd

Treva B. Froyd, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Keystone, Okla. A resident for 70 years, she was an office administrator for an auto repair company and a member of Order of the Eastern Star South Gate Chapter 18.

She is survived by one daughter, Marlene Kolk of Las Vegas; one son, James L. Froyd; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Eastern Star. Services will follow at Bunkers Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Omar Garcia

Omar Garcia, 22, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. A resident for 16 years, he was born Sept. 7, 1982, in Casper, Wyo.

He is survived by his mother, Marylou Baeza, his father, Leopoldo Garcia, and one sister, Jessica Garcia, all of North Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Friday in St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

William R. Hansen Sr.

William R. Hansen Sr., 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 26, 1931, in Kennewick, Wash. A resident for five years, he was a retired correctional officer, a member of the Elks and Moose and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; two sons, William R. Hansen Jr. and Robert L. Hansen; one daughter, Kimberly K. Hansen; his parents, Henry P. and Bessie K. Hansen; three brothers, C. Dale Hansen, Earl H. Hansen and Shawn Broughman; two sisters, Lorraine H. Hamilton and Adele H. O'Daniel; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. March 29 in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite no-kill animal charity.

J.T. Hilderbrand

J.T. Hilderbrand, 90, of Pahrump died Sunday in a local care center. He was born Feb. 17, 1915, in Booneville, Mo. A resident for 17 years, he was a retired flight engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia; two sons, David A. Hilderbrand of Richfield, Utah, and John Michael Hilderbrand of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Joya Diane Skye of Arizona; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Angelica June Jimenez and Raquel Renee Jimenez

Angelica June Jimenez, 14, and her sister, Raquel Renee Jimenez, 16, both of Las Vegas, died Monday in Las Vegas. Angelica was born June 23, 1990, and Raquel was born Jan. 24, 1989, both in California. They were local residents for five years. They are survived by their father, Humberto Jimenez, their mother, Clara Guardado, four brothers, William Guardado, Humberto Jimenez Jr., Johnny Jimenez and Victor Jimenez, and three sisters, Sabrina Palafox, Lynette Jimenez and Adriana Jimenez, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Burial will be in California.

Raymond W. Johnson

Raymond W. Johnson, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 14, 1921, in Canada. A resident for 33 years, he was a nuclear engineer at the Nevada Test Site and a World War II and Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; one son, David; one daughter, Lori; two sisters, Grace and Verna; and four grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.

Michael Malafronte

Michael Malafronte, 82, of Henderson died Friday in a local care center. He was born March 27, 1922, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for five years, he was a retired steam fitter for a commercial heating company and a World War II Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina; and his daughter, Michele Krein.

He is survived by one brother, Gianni Malafronte of New York state; and one son-in-law, Michael Krein of Henderson; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Julianne Lou Villamil Roma, Julius Roma and Prisciliano Roma

Julianne Lou Villamil Roma, 6, Julius Roma, 49, and Prisciliano Roma, 55, all of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. Julianne was born Aug. 16, 1998, in Las Vegas. Her father, Julius, a hotel food and beverage server, was born June 30, 1955, in the Philippines. His brother, Prisciliano, a driver in the health care industry, was born Jan. 4, 1950, in the Philippines. The brothers were Las Vegas residents for 12 years.

Julianne is survived by her mother, Luz Villamil-Roma, and her grandparents, Ismael and Gloria Villamil, all of Las Vegas.

Julius is survived by his wife, Luz Villamil-Roma.

Julius and Prisciliano are survived by three brothers Mario Roma of Las Vegas, Nicolas Roma of General Santos City, Philippines, and Urbano Roma of Muskegon, Mich.; and one sister, Mercedes Roma-Binagatan of Muskegon.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Chapel.

Travis Wade Schmidt

Travis Wade Schmidt, 27, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 26, 1977, in Miami, Ariz. A resident for 25 years, he was a food server at Sonic.

He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Berry of Overton; his father, Allen L. Schmidt, his father's fiancee, Judy Ray, and two brothers, Christian Schmidt and Jason Schmidt, all of Las Vegas; and his grandfather, Lester Schmidt of Globe, Ariz.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. A private burial will follow.

Aubrey 'Ben' Smith

Aubrey "Ben" Smith, 88, of Las Vegas died March 4 in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 6, 1916, in North Dakota. A resident for many years, he was a painter and a mason.

He is survived by one sister, Gloria Mosher.

John Raymond Stowell

John Raymond Stowell, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Minnesota. A resident for 15 years, he was a former Marine Corps staff sergeant.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley; three daughters, Vicki Cork of Conrad, Mont., Patti Stowell of Miami, Ariz., and Janell Singleton of North Las Vegas; one son, Leland Stowell of North Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Julio Valdenegro

Julio Valdenegro, 70, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. A retired hotel chef, he was born June 17, 1934, in Santiago, Chile.

He is survived by three daughters, Leonor Tousley, Nancy Moxon and Elizabeth Valdenegro, all of Henderson; two sons, Johnny Valdenegro of Las Vegas and Victor Valdenegro of Henderson.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in the LDS Whitney Ranch Ward. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
