Atlanta-based Cox Communications, which was taken private in December by parent company Cox Enterprises Inc., reported a fourth-quarter operating loss of $2.2 billion, compared with net income of $162 million for the same 2003 period.
Revenue for the quarter was $1.7 billion, up 11 percent over the same 2003 quarter. That surge was driven by advanced services subscriptions which include digital cable, high-speed Internet access and telephone service, the company said.
For the full year, operating loss was $1.7 billion, compared with 2003 income of $586.9 million. Revenue for 2004 was $6.4 billion, up 12 percent from the year-ago period.
