Notable: The Norths player of the year, Berry averaged 19.5 points per game as the Raiders went 27-3 ... Hit a shot from halfcourt at the buzzer to give Reed a 48-45 victory against Galena. ... Scored 40 points on 16 field goal attempts in a win against Spanish Springs ... Looking at several JCs in Northern California.

Said Raiders coach Paul Gray: "He kept excelling and seemed to get better and better as the year went along. He liked to take those last shots."

Derek LORENZEN

Forward, Senior, Galena

Notable: The leader on a team heavy on underclassmen. ... Averaged 19.0 PPG, 4.4 RPG and scored 86 3-pointers on 49 percent shooting behind the arc for the Northern Region champions. ... First team all-Northern Region. ... a four-year starter for Galena, has transitioned from a small forward to guard. ... Averaged 29 points over a four-game stretch during league play. ... Recruited by Montana State and Division II and III schools.

Notable: Stepped up after the Trailblazers lost three key players from last season. ... A versatile player for Durango, handled everything from jump balls to bringing the ball down the court ... Averaged 19.4 PPG and just under 10 rebounds, logging 21 double-doubles last season.

Said Trailblazers coach Al LaRocque: "He had to pick up ballhandling, bringing the ball down... that was good and bad, because on games where he wasnt in a double-double situation, those were games we were going to lose. He carried us."

PAllen STINNETT

Guard, Junior, Palo Verde

Notable: The Panthers leader in a trying season ... Second in the state in scoring, averaging 25.5 PPG on 63 percent field goal shooting ... Also hit 45 of 115 3-point attempts ... First-team All-Sunset Region player ... A skilled passer who tried to dish out assists almost as much as he shot it himself..

Said Panthers coach Paul Aznarez: "Hes kind of a slippery kind of kid. Im still trying to figure out if he reminds me of anybody in particular, and hes kind of his own player."

Kashif WATSON

Guard, Senior, Bishop Gorman

Notable: Nicknamed "Chief," Watson led the Gaels with 21 PPG. ... Pitched in another six rebounds with three steals a game. ... Led Bishop Gorman to its 11th state championship. ... Named the USA Today National Player of the Week on Feb. 28. ... Averaged nearly 30 points a game to close the year. ... Has signed with San Diego State.

Said Gaels coach Grant Rice: "I think he realized it was his senior year, and he knew it was time. He was ready to lead us to the championship. He had some quotes at the end and the beginning of the year along those same lines, he definitely took care of business."

Tom MAURER

Coach, Galena

Notable: Took the Grizzlies to their second Northern Region championship in past three seasons ... Galena easily swept through the Northern Region playoffs, winning its three games by an average 13 points per game ... Grizzlies went 11-3 in High Desert League play, losing two games by a combined five points.

Jordan Ragan

Guard. Senior, Green Valley

Ragan averaged nearly nine assists per game and was the Gators' on-court leader last season.

Heiden Ratner

Guard, Sophomore, Silverado

Ratner led the state in points, averaging 26.6 per game in taking the Skyhawks to their first-ever playoff victory.

Franklin Igbekoyi

Center, Senior, Bishop Manogue

A giant in the middle for the Miners, Igbekoyi helped guide Bishop Manogue to a 24-5 record in first year at 4A.

Josh Rivers

Guard, Senior, Valley

Rivers was a flashy shooter for Valley, averaging 17.7 PPG in taking the Vikings to the state semifinals.

Marcus Lawrence

Guard, Junior, Bishop Gorman

A steady on-court presence, Lawrence averaged 15 PPG but wasn't afraid to sacrifice his game for his teammates.
