Man in Henderson standoff is undergoing evaluation

A 40-year-old man is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation after he held himself up in his father's home with a handgun for more than two hours before a police dog subdued him.
Without carrying the gun, Hal Adams walked out of the home in the 2500 block of Hayesville Avenue, near Eastern Avenue and Anthem Parkway, Tuesday night and appeared to be giving himself up to Henderson Police. But when Adams turned around to go back into the home, police released a dog to pounce on him so officers could take him into custody, police said.
Adams was taken to St. Rose Siena Hospital to undergo a psychiatric examination. He was not injured in the standoff, which ended about 5:50 p.m., Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said.
No charges had been filed against Adams this morning, Paul said. Officers this morning were uncertain where Adams was from or whether he was living with his father when the standoff began, he said.
