Senior apartments planned for former Sky-Vue land

Las Vegas' battle with the former owners of the Sky-Vue mobile home park appears to be over, and the new owner said Wednesday that he hopes to build apartments for senior citizens on the now-vacant land.
The city has been paid $221,086 to cover the cost of demolition, security, and relocation of former residents of the park on Owens Avenue, city Neighborhood Services Director Orlando Sanchez said.
The city bills had gone unpaid for months while the property was in legal limbo in the bankruptcy court.
Sky-Vue was forced to close April 30 after city and Clark County Health District officials said the park was unsafe for occupancy because of unsanitary conditions and a lack of fire hydrants.
Las Vegas resident Yajov "Jack" Hefetz purchased the land about 10 days ago for $1.2 million.
Hefetz said he plans to seek city approval to build 300 to 500 apartments for low-income senior citizens on the 5 acres.
The unpaid bills were the city's last remaining issue with the former Sky-Vue owners Sandi and David DiMarco.
In January, the DiMarcos paid $6,792 in fines and fees and received suspended 120-day jail sentences under a settlement that satisfied the 13 charges they faced for doing business without a license.
