Plea entered in shooting case
A 54-year-old man accused of killing his sister in front of her daughter's Henderson elementary school pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder Tuesday.
Robert Charles Lamb is scheduled to stand trial Feb. 6, 2006, before District Judge Donald Mosley for allegedly shooting his sister, 49-year-old Susan Bivans, outside of Warren-Walker Elementary School on Windmill Parkway in Green Valley on Dec. 15.
California slaying suspect sought
Metro Police and California authorities are looking for a 31-year-old man suspected in a homicide in Rialto, Calif., last month.
Gang crimes detectives learned on Saturday that Julian Jones was possibly hiding in an apartment at the Desert Springs complex at 1500 E. Karen Ave., but he escaped before police could apprehend him.
Jones should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police.
Gunmen hold up Eureka Casino
The Eureka Casino on East Sahara Avenue near Paradise Road was robbed this morning by two men armed with a handgun, Metro Police said.
The robbery occurred just before 3:30 a.m. Two men approached the the casino cage, pointed the gun at a cashier and made off with several thousand dollars in cash, police said.
The suspects ran from the casino and were seen jumping over the wall of an apartment complex nearby. Police said the robbery was caught on video and detectives are reviewing the tape.
The Reno City Council
is considering a freeze on granting licenses to escort businesses. It has approved permits for only two such services, but more than 40 are listed in the Yellow Pages. Many are based in Reno.
Council members want to figure out how widespread the services are and strengthen the city's regulatory control.
