Letter: Honesty always the best policy?
Wednesday, March 9, 2005 | 9:12 a.m.
So Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman values honesty most? Were he to see a truly homely baby in its mother's arms, would he not say how "cute" the baby is? Or would he, well, "tell the truth"?
Everyone except Goodman seems to understand that his comments to elementary school students about drinking were completely inappropriate. He's a role model, after all, and good role models these days are becoming more and more scarce.
And as for the speech Rep. Jim Gibbons gave in Elko, the reward for taking credit for authoring someone else's work is very clear, not only to teachers, but to everyone: an F. Gibbons has clearly earned his.
