Dead body in home still baffles police

Metro Police were no closer Tuesday afternoon to piecing together the circumstances surrounding the death of a Las Vegas man found in an eastern Las Vegas home Monday morning, officers said.
Priest Lamont Ofoegbu, 31, of Las Vegas, was found in the bathroom of a home on the Desert Rose Golf Course near Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard by a resident of the home about 11 a.m. Monday. According to police, Ofoegbu had been shot in the head and three bullet casings were found in the home.
No other information, including whether anyone else had been in the house at the time of the shooting, was available Tuesday, Lt. Tom Monahan of Metro's homicide section said.
"We have no greater understanding now than we did this morning," he said Tuesday afternoon.
Detectives on Tuesday were working to determine whether Ofoegbu was shot with a firearm that the resident, who is not considered a suspect, kept in the home, Monahan said.
Monahan said detectives speculated Ofoegbu, who was wearing a heavy leather coat, gloves and a small backpack, was a burglar.
He is believed to have entered the house when the resident left to run errands.
