Meritage Homes, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., has entered the Reno housing market. Meritage builds homes in Las Vegas under the name Perma Bilt.
The expansion is part of the company's growth strategy of entering new markets through acquisition and start-up operations.
The company recently closed on its first land acquisition in the Reno-area master-planned community the Foothills at Wingfield, Steven J. Hilton, Meritage co-chairman and chief executive said in a statement. The builder expects to begin delivering homes there in mid-2006.
