Car hits motorcycle officer on freeway

A Metro Police officer was injured on Monday night on U.S. 95 northbound near downtown Las Vegas when a driver swerved into his lane and hit his motorcycle, police said.

Sgt. Howard Hall, 41, suffered a sprained ankle and superficial cuts to his legs, Lt. Chris Carroll said. Hall was released from the hospital Monday night, Officer Jose Montoya, a Metro spokesman, said.

Hall is assigned to Metro's traffic section and has been with the department for 15 years, Montoya said.

The collision occurred during rush hour, when a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Christina Wilson of Las Vegas made an unsafe lane change and hit the officer, Carroll said.

Wilson was attempting to maneuver from the far right exit lane on Interstate 15 to the right lane on westbound U.S. 95, police said.
