ZAP, N.D. -- A casino on the south shore of Lake Sakakawea near here has been discussed for years. Now the project appears closer to development.
Army Corps of Engineers spokeswoman Linda Phelps said the Three Affiliated Tribes has notified the corps that it is working on the proposal. A Bismarck-based engineering firm hired by the tribes was at Beaver Bay recently.
The Three Affiliated Tribes operates the Four Bears Casino and Lodge on the north shore of the lake, at New Town. The Beaver Bay casino would be on tribal trust land.
Tribal officials were not immediately available for comment on the proposal. Phelps said it may include a marina and ramp.
