John Henry Barrett
John Henry Barrett, 64, of Henderson died Tuesday in Henderson. He was born June 15, 1940, in New York. A resident for many years, he was a retired chemist.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; one son, Donald; one sister, Susan; and three grandchildren.
Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.
The family suggests donations to Odyssey Health Care, 4011 McLeod Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89121, or First United Methodist Church, Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Jean A. Benson
Jean A. Benson, 82, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. He was born May 8, 1922, in Giltner, Neb. A resident for 17 years, he was a retired aircraft flight line foreman for an aircraft company, a World War II Coast Guard veteran and a member of the Elks.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly J.; one son, Kris L. Benson of Santee, Calif.; one daughter, Sandra Zellhart of Folsom, Calif.; one brother, Larry Benson of Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling private arrangements.
The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 6370 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103.
John Gibson
John Gibson, 75, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Midwest, Wyo. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired hospital medical technologist and a Korean War Army Air Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Jill; two sons, Duke Gibson of Long Beach, Calif., and Phillip Gibson of Pasadena, Calif.; one daughter, Angela McKibben of Garden Grove, Calif.; two stepsons, Kevin Speck of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Tod Speck of Surprise, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling private arrangements.
Corrine A. Hales
Corrine A. Hales, 48, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born June 18, 1956, in Henderson. A lifelong resident, she was a real estate agent.
She is survived by her companion, Terry; one son, Jason; three brothers, Corwin, Trevor and Jay; and five sisters, Teresa, Tawna, Denise, Tami and Candy.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Pete Albert Martinez
Pete Albert Martinez, 73, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 29, 1931, in Pueblo, Colo. A resident for 23 years, he was an Army platoon sergeant and a Vietnam War and Korean War veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; three daughters, Wendy Sellberg of Vancouver, Wash., Barbara Urick of St. Louis, Abigail Salerno of Las Vegas; three sons, Harlow Martinez of Michigan and Michael Martinez and Alexander Martinez, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Carrie Romero and Delores Archuleta, both of Denver; two brothers, Tony Martinez and Mike Martinez of California; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 90 minutes prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in the Temple View LDS chapel. Graveside services will be 10:40 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
Nita J. Munson
Nita J. Munson, 90, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 12, 1914, in New Iberia, La. A resident for many years, she was a retired markup and development employee at Lockheed Aircraft.
She is survived by one granddaughter, Sandra Lucas of Las Vegas.
Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling private arrangements.
Kim Richert
Kim Richert, 61, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born May 14, 1943, in Teagu, Korea. A resident for 42 years, she was a retired blackjack dealer.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday in First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 301 S. Maryland Parkway. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
Sylvia Scivally
Sylvia Scivally, 59, of Las Vegas died Feb. 24 in Las Vegas. A resident for six years, she was born Dec. 12, 1945, in Texas.
She is survived by three daughters, Serlena Ricks, Jocelyn Serrano and Wynette Mcfadden, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Delven Mcfadden and Andrew Wyatt Jr., both of California; four sisters, Elnora Lewis, Nealy Wilson and Mary Smith, both of California, and Neressa Wyatt of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave., followed by burial in Davis' Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane, handled arrangements.
Jerry F.R. Silverstein
Jerry F.R. Silverstein, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born May 30, 1933, in Bayonne, N.J. A resident for 16 years, he was a corporate collection manager for the Sahara Hotel Corp. and a Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by three daughters, Marci Salcedo, Melani Keenan and Randi Schulman, all of Las Vegas; one son, Craig Silverstein of Beaverton, Ore.; and 11 grandchildren.
No local services are scheduled. Services will be in California. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
