Letter: Mayor sets poor example for kids

Friday, March 4, 2005 | 4:42 a.m.

WEEKEND EDITION

March 5 - 6, 2005

It is unbelievable to me that the mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman, would stand before a fourth grade class and, when asked what his hobbies are, profess one of his favorites is drinking.

It is disgusting as well for the mayor to state that if stranded on an island, the one thing he would take is a bottle of gin. To ever make such remarks, maybe he had a few too many hobbies before he went to that school.

I hope no other school ever takes the chance and asks him to participate in any activities again, as our kids deserve a much better role model than he could ever be. He has been nothing but the butt of jokes since he has gotten into office and I can fully understand why after reading this article about him.
