Letter: Bush’s policies are very hurtful
Friday, March 4, 2005 | 9:04 a.m.
How far will this president be allowed to go to ruin this country?
I am a 68-year-old businesswoman who has to work to live, as my Social Security checks are under the poverty line. It is very hard at my age, but I see no end to it with the proposed cuts to Medicare and everything else he wants to cut.
While giving the rich more tax cuts and benefits, President Bush gives the average person a feeling of hopelessness, like nobody cares! Am I supposed to just lay down and die when I can't work anymore? God help me if I should have a debilitating illness. What will happen to me? I've already had one heart attack and a hip replacement.
Then we have to put up with Rep. Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., and other clueless political climbers, calling us (meaning liberals, Democrats, the elderly) crybabies and adding other insults, such as accusations that we do not support our troops, that we support gay marriage, etc. My oldest son, and my son-in-law, both 46 years old, just returned from Iraq after a second tour.
Just how much more abuse can we take?
