An Independence Air A319 jet arrived at McCarran International Airport from Dulles International Airport in suburban Washington, D.C., on Wednesday. Washington-based Independence began twice-daily nonstop flights to and from Las Vegas on Tuesday. Flights leave Las Vegas at 12:30 -- in the morning and the afternoon. Independence, which formerly operated as an East Coast commuter airline known as Atlantic Coast Airlines, added Airbus jets to its fleet and put Las Vegas on its route map as the first city in the airline's expansion to the West.
