Marz unsure whether he can remain on board

Was Tuesday's Nevada Tourism Commissioner John Marz's last meeting?
Marz, for one, is hoping that it wasn't.
He has asked for a legal interpretation as to whether he'll be able to continue serving when his marketing position with the Mandalay Resort Group disappears.
MGM Mirage is acquiring Mandalay Resort Group, and Marz is among the Mandalay executives who won't have a job when the deal is completed later this month.
"I'd like to stay on," Marz said. "I enjoy it and I think I make a positive contribution. But I'm not sure if the commission is structured in a way that certain positions have to be representative of the gaming industry."
Marz said he isn't ready to announce what he plans to do when he leaves Mandalay, but he doesn't expect it will be in gaming.
The Commission on Tourism meets quarterly so the job transition will occur before the next scheduled meeting.
Fellow Las Vegas Commissioner Irwin Kishner said he hopes Marz will be allowed to stay.
"We need someone with his experience," Kishner said.
