Columnist Peter Benton: New fan guide book puts PGA at your fingertips

Peter Benton's golf column appears Wednesday.

Those looking for that certain piece of literature to keep you up-to-date with all the comings and goings on the PGA tour should look no further as Tehabi Sports has just launched the inaugural edition of the 2005 Official PGA Tour Fan Guide.

This comprehensive handbook combines at-your-fingertips information on the three golf tours -- PGA tour, Champions tour and the Nationwide tour -- into one fan-friendly publication.

The book recaps the 2004 season and offers a complete schedule for this year.

The 2005 Official PGA Tour Fan Guide is available for $19.95 at PGAtourfanguide.com or at major bookstores.

Last week's Husband and Wife Pinehurst/Scotch Tournament at the Las Vegas Country Club saw J.P. and Lori Oberweiss win a playoff against the pairing of Pat and Georgie Laverty to come away with the title of Overall Champions. Their low gross score was 77.

All was not lost, however, for the Laverty team as they won top honors in the First Flight with a net score of 2-under 70. Glenn and Rene Raynes followed with 70.5, while in third at 71.5 was Steve and Tammy Gephardt.

Russ and Karen Schroeder won the Second Flight with a score of 61.5. David and Karen Roitburd placed second at 68, and garnering third place with 70 was the Don and Connie Pitchford duo.

Third Flight victors with a 64 were Harold and Karen Falkner.

Emilio Muscelli and Paulette Morris won the Guys and Dolls Flight with a 66.

A total of 37 of the 64 competitors in last week's Accenture Match Play Championship Field were international players, with 18 countries being represented -- led by a contingent of 27 from the United States.

The foreign reps were headed by Australia's 10 players. Other countries showing their flags were England, Ireland, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Japan, Spain, Fiji, Korea, Sweden, France, Argentina, Trinidad-Tobago, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Scotland and Denmark.
