TV, online ad campaigns begin

The Nevada Commission on Tourism has launched its 2005 advertising campaign with a new 30-second television spot showing scenes of people bicycling, running, kayaking, skiing, hiking and fishing around several rural locations.
The ad directs viewers to a Web site where they can get an adventure guide and visitor guide.
The Nevada "Wide Open" campaign, now in its second year, was developed by DRGM Advertising. Television ads are scheduled to run on eight cable television channels -- Animal Planet, Discovery, Fox News, FX, National Geographic, Speed Channel, TBS and the Travel Channel.
Print ads also have been placed in magazines in the United States, Canada, Japan and China.
In its first year, the campaign generated nearly 22,000 responses to the Web site and toll-free telephone number and orders for the adventure and visitor guides increase by 45.4 percent, Commission on Tourism officials said.
