Kids evacuated from school bus

Five children were evacuated from a school bus this morning after the engine compartment caught fire in the westbound lanes of Summerlin Parkway at Buffalo Drive.

The children, one of whom was in a wheelchair, were taken off the bus by the driver and firefighters, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said. No one was injured.

Another bus came by and picked up the children. The fire caused about $5,000 in damage to the bus.
