Local students win scholarships

Students from area high schools are among the 500 scholarship recipients from across the country to receive a $2,000 award through Mercedes-Benz USA's Drive to Your Future scholarship program.

Scholarship winners were selected from an applicant pool of nearly 2,000 graduating high school seniors nationwide who applied for the scholarship which is offered to college-bound students who will be the first in their families to attend college.

The local scholarship recipients: Lisa Doyle of Henderson will attend University of Reno; Faviola Lopez of Las Vegas will attend Texas Christian University; Scott Grady of Las Vegas will attend UNLV; and Bita Zahedi of Las Vegas will attend Princeton University.
