Southwest Airlines, the busiest commercial passenger carrier at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, today announced that it would add Fort Myers, Fla., to its route map in October.
The airline currently serves 60 airports in 31 states and flies about 1 million passengers a month in and out of Las Vegas with 193 daily flights to 48 markets.
In a statement, Southwest said it would announce fares and flight schedules next month. There was no indication whether the Fort Myers market would be served with nonstop flights to and from Las Vegas.
Southwest currently offers nonstop flights from Las Vegas to only one of the five Florida cities it serves, Tampa.
Southwest already offers one-stop service with code-share partner ATA Airlines to Fort Myers.
