TUCSON, Ariz. -- In his second start back from a stint on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, Jon Cannon pitched five scoreless innings with three walks and four strikeouts as the Tucson Sidewinders beat the Las Vegas 51s, 9-8, Sunday.
Cannon helped his cause with his bat as he went 3-for-3 with a run, two doubles, a home run and three RBIs and left the game with an 8-0 lead.
The 51s made it interesting down the stretch, outscoring the Sidewinders 8-1 in the final four innings.
Brian Barden went 3-for-5 and Luis Terrero went 2-for-4 with two runs and a double for the Sidewinders.
Cannon (2-3) improved his ERA to 4.72, and one night after earning his first win of the season, Randy Choate earned his first save.
The Sidewinders (39-39) and 51s continue their four-game set at 7 tonight at Tucson Electric Park.
The scheduled starters are LHP Michael Gosling (3-4, 6.15) for the Sidewinders and RHP Pat Mahomes (5-6, 4.76) for the 51s.
