Despite higher travel costs, more Nevadans than last year will travel 50 miles or more during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, AAA Nevada said today.
A study by the travel association said more than 290,000 people would travel by car -- up 2.7 percent over last year -- despite increasing gasoline prices. More than 58,000 people plan to travel by air, up 5.1 percent over 2004.
With the exception of air fares, the cost of vacations are higher this year, with average rental car rates up by 12.8 percent over 2004's rates.
Nationally, 40.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home, AAA said.
