We are fortunate that years ago our elected officials acted to pass the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act. It provides a tool to mitigate growth and development occurring in Southern Nevada.
Currently, there is bipartisan support for keeping the rules governing the money intact. Unfortunately, Rep. Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., feels that we should ignore the people of Nevada and work with an administration that does not care about our state and wants to dismantle this important legislation.
To protect the things that make Nevada a great place to live, Gibbons should unite with the rest of our congressional delegation and oppose changes to the lands act.
