An elementary school counselor wrote to ask that the Sun Camp Fund donors make it possible for a student who has gotten his act together to be able to go to summer camp.
"In the beginning of the school year he was rude, angry and always in trouble," she noted.
But the counselor and the boy's teacher worked with him and now he is friendly toward others, the counselor said. The boy has saved some money for camp, but needs help to be able to cover the entire cost.
"It is important for him to continue feeling like others really care about him, and he needs to succeed in other environments," the counselor wrote.
All donations given to the Las Vegas Sun Camp Fund go directly toward sending a child to camp. Administrative costs are covered by the Las Vegas Sun.
