Walken to be honored at CineVegas

The Seventh Annual CineVegas Film Festival continues today at Brenden Theatres Las Vegas 14 at the Palms. The festivel features nearly 100 shorts, documentaries and feature films.

Among today's highlights: "Trona," which had its U.S. premiere Saturday at the festival; the first CineVegas showing of "Spicebush," as well as encore showings of "Red Doors" and "Firefly."

In the Area 52 category of films, which are cult, avant-garde and midnight movies, is a collection of strange shorts, "Out in Left Field," including: cut-and-paste animation, baseball managers, small-town survival and a dedication to all the exotic heroes in the universe.

Also featured is the UNLV Student Film Showcase, which features 15 shorts from UNLV students:

"Hunt of Crock," "Big Dog," "Hooked," "Hardest Fight," "Greatest Day Ever," "Zombie," "Samurai Escort," "The Repairman," "Behind the Girls Bathroom," "The Lecture," "Earshot: Tounge-Tied," "Family Values," "Alienation," "Descent to Greatness" and "Fall Guy."
