Letter: Car ads waste taxpayer money
Friday, June 10, 2005 | 6:20 a.m.
WEEKEND EDITION
June 11-12, 2005
While flipping through the TV channels recently, I noticed that the National Guard and Army were the sponsors of cars entered in a NASCAR race.
Please don't tell me our tax dollars are used for this purpose.
I realize that interest in joining the military is at an all-time low, but there must be better ways to invest tax dollars for the purpose of recruitment. I doubt many young people will run to the nearest recruiting office because they saw an ad on a race car.
This is just more military waste.
