An elementary school teacher writers that a girl in her class is "one of the most caring and generous souls in our whole school." However, low self-esteem has prevented her from keeping friends.
Her mother writes that summer camp will help her very quiet daughter overcome her low self-esteem.
Her teacher also said that camp would help her feel accepted and improve her self-esteem.
"She could try new things without fear of judgment or failure," the teacher wrote. The teacher also said that a summer camp experience would help the girl succeed in middle school in the fall.
The mother has sought the help of the Las Vegas Sun Camp Fund to send her daughter to camp. The fund provides money to send children to camp whose families cannot afford to send them there. Last year the fund helped send 700 children to camp.
